NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Date: Tuesday 21st October 2008, 1pm, Blakers Lecture Theatre (opposite Weatherburn LT)
In 2009 be a part an internationally recognised and award winning student organisation, the UWA IEEE Student Branch. Details on how to nominate for our 2009 Committee are below.
Come along to our Annual General Meeting next Tuesday to hear about our achievements in 2008, our plans for 2009 and how you can get involved in your university.
The events that we have organised have provided our members and students at UWA with unique networking, career building, personal and professional development opportunities.
Positions available for nomination in 2009 include:
• Chairperson *
• Vice Chairperson *
• Secretary
• Treasurer *
• Function Coordinator
• Membership Development Officer(s)
• Computer Science Representative
• General Committee Member(s)
* Only available to current UWA IEEE Committee members
If you are interested in any of the positions above, please send an email to nominations@uwaieee.org by 5pm Wednesday 22nd October 2008 and also come along to our AGM.
In your email include:

• and a brief spiel about why you are interested in the position, and why you feel you are suitable.
We're looking for new committee members from all year groups who are enthusiastic about getting involved and contributing to the success of a successful and recognised professional organisation. We'll give you the opportunity to take initiative and have real responsibilities. We are a committee mainly focused on students studying: Electrical, Computer, Process/Instrumentation/Control, Mechatronics Engineering and Software Engineering or Computer Science.

Position descriptions (taken from UWA IEEE Student Branch Constitution)
Secretary:
The duties of the Secretary shall include,
but by no means be limited to, the following:

To record and distribute the minutes of Committee meetings.
- To prepare and distribute meeting agendas prior to Committee meetings.
- To collect all motions forwarded by interested parties to be addressed
at the next scheduled meeting.
- The preparation and submission of annual reports as required by the
IEEE.
- To store all documents produced and distributed by the Branch.
- Accomplishment of other duties to the fulfillment of Branch
objectives.
Function coordinator:
The duties of the Functions Coordinator
shall include, but by no means be limited to, the following:
- To organize Branch functions.
- Notification to the Committee of the appropriate Branch sponsors
applicable to individual functions.
- Estimation of expenses and revenues to be generated from Branch
functions.
- Scheduling of activities to be performed in regards to Branch
activities and functions.
- Accomplishment of other duties to the fulfillment of Branch
objectives.
Computer Science Representative:
The duties of the Computer Science
Representative shall include, but by no means be limited to, the
following:
- Inform the Committee of the developments within the Computer
Science department.
- To represent the Branch in interactions with the Computer
Science department, including academia and the student body.
- To maintain relations with the Computer Science department and
inform them of Branch activities.
- To address the recommendations and comments made by interested
parties of the Computer Science department regarding Branch activities.
- Accomplishment of other duties to the fulfillment of Branch
objectives.
General Committee Member(s):
The duties of a General Committee Member shall include, but by no means be limited to, the
following:
- Participation in Branch events and activities.
- Attending Branch meetings.
- Assist in the running and organisation of Branch events.
- Contribute positively to the conduct of the Branch.
- Accomplishment of other duties to the fulfillment of Branch
objectives.
The UWA IEEE Student
Branch is a student branch in Region 10 of the Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The IEEE is an international
non-profit, professional organization for the advancement of technology,
and has the most members of any technical professional organization in
the world, with more than 360,000 members in around 175 countries.
