About the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering.
This page provides a brief overview of the School of EECE @ UWA
The School is housed in two adjoining buildings:
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering Building : Offices, administration and teaching and research laboratories
- Centre for Water Research Building (North) : Teaching and research laboratories and workshops.
The School currently has 21 Academic (Teaching and Research) Staff and 23 Professional Staff (administrative and technical). In addition, the School employs another 16 Academic (Research Only) Staff and 12 Professional Staff funded from research grants and contracts.
The School teaches a comprehensive degree program covering all the major disciplines in electrical and electronic engineering, and computer engineering.
The School offers three undergraduate four year degree programs:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Information Technology) (to become Computer Engineering in 2007)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Process Instrumentation and Control) (introduced in 2006)
Suitably qualified students may also take these degrees in combination with degrees from a number of other schools and faculties to obtain two undergraduate degrees in five and half years full-time study. Currently double degree programs exist with Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Computing and Mathematics, Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Science. In 2007 this will be expanded to include the Bachelor of Laws.
The School offers three higher degree by coursework programs, currently with more than over 20 enrolled students:
- Master of Engineering in Information and Communications Technology (MEICT)
- Master of Engineering in Microelectronics (MEME)
- Master of Engineering (Power Systems) (ME(PS))
Additionally the School offers a generic Graduate Diploma in Engineering and Graduate Certificate in Engineering - from 2007 these will become named Diplomas and Certificates to match the named Masters programs. The School also offers a Doctor of Engineering in Information and Communications Technology as a professional doctorate which had its first student enter this year.
The School also offers Masters of Engineering Science (MEngSc) and PhD programs. Research student numbers have been increasing significantly, with 49 PhD students and 7 MEngSc students currently enrolled.
