EECE Office Friday
The School of Electrical, Electronic & Computer Engineering 'Office Friday' for 1st years was held on the 27th July and attracted a large number of students to hear industry speakers talk about the strong demand for Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineers.
Most notably, Mr Phil Southwell, Manager Strategy & Corporate Affairs of Western Power presented a profile of Western Power's infrastructure expansion plans over the next five years and highlighted the acute shortage of Electrical Power Engineers to help support this work. He also spoke about Western Power's strong interest in renewable energy sources and the need for long-term and sustainable solutions to the state's energy needs. Phil was joined by many representatives from other companies that discussed careers options with students.
Head of School, A/Prof Gary Bundell spoke about the wide options available to students in the degree programme, and reinforced the strong demand from industry. A number of School academic staff were also in attendance to chat with students after the talks.
