Congratulations to Imran Naseem for securing an IEEE TPAMI Publication

An EECE postgraduate student, Imran Naseem, has recently secured a publication in IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI).

Congratulations to Imran Naseem for securing an IEEE TPAMI Publication

Imran Naseem

The TPAMI is designated as the most prestigious journal among all IEEE publications with a 2008 ISI impact factor  of 5.960 and 5-year impact factor of 7.981, the highest of any IEEE transactions, and an A* ranking from the ARC. Imran works with the Signal and Information Processing (SIP) research group under the supervision of Dr. Roberto Togneri.  He is co-supervised by Dr. Mohammed Bennamoun from the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering.

His current research is focused on robust face recognition algorithms.  In his TPAMI publication he has proposed a novel linear regression based face identification algorithm which has shown outstanding performance index on standard databases.  Further, a modular variant of the approach has shown to attain the best reported results for the difficult case of scarf occlusion.

Imran started his PhD in March 2008 and he was able to submit the first draft of the paper within 7 months of his enrollment.  The paper was finally accepted for publication on 11th July 2009.  Apart from the TPAMI journal he has already registered 5 publications to his credit including book chapters and the premier ICIP 2009 conference.  He is also a contributing author and a reviewer for an upcoming book “Advances in Face Image Analysis – Techniques and Technologies”

Congratulations Imran!
