- UWA Staff Sports Fun Day
- The UWA Staff Sports Fun Day took place on Friday 28th November 2008. Staff and postgrad students were invited to represent their school/faculty in an inter staff sports fun day. This was the first time such an event had been held and due to its success the VC Prof Alan Robson announced that it will now become an annual event.

- Congratulations to Prof. Laurie Faraone and his Microelectronic Research Group, who last night were awarded the inaugural Defence Science and Technology Organisation Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science in Support of Defence or National Security for their microspectrometer sensing technology.
